The Central Iowa Art Association, CIAA, has existed for over 4 decades to provide art classes to all who are interested. A non-profit organization, the CIAA provides monthly exhibits in the Fisher Community Center Auditorium, rotating exhibits of local artists' work in a smaller room and hall, and offers docent tours of the Fisher Foundation's Impressionist Collection which features work by Degas, Utrillo, Cassatt, Pissarro, Henner, Matisse, and others. The CIAA also has an excellent ceramic study collection with a national reputation. As a service to their students and to artists iin the community, the CIAA runs a student supply shop where paints, canvases, brushes, papers, and other art supplies may be purchased at reasonable prices. A large, well-lit studio is available for use during open studio times. The CIAA is dedicated to sharing the visual arts with everyone. Classes are offered privately or in groups. Summer Art Camp is available for youth, and Art Trek for parent/child participation is available 7 times a year. The Central Iowa Art Fair is also a decades old tradition. The third Sunday of every July, artists come from all over Iowa to display their work. We host painters, potters, glass blowers, jewelry makers, sketch artists, and others. Each fair also features live music and entertainments especially for children.
